Why Partner with Us?

The Marine Preservation Society of the Florida Keys proudly presents a SALTY  SOIREE to honor and celebrate the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary  and the South Florida/Florida Keys marine ecosystem.

As the benevolent non-profit partner of America’s premier marine sanctuary,  we welcome you to this exciting evening of entertainment and special guests.

This memorable event unfolds on JANUARY 25, 2025 at PLAYA  LARGO RESORT & SPA, to an audience of community leaders,  influential partners, and high net worth philanthropists.

SALTY SOIREE is not your typical gala, but an experience you don’t want  to miss. Featuring food stations for every palate, a cigar bar, whisky tastings,  and an opportunity to mingle all evening long. Networking and meeting other  conservation-minded individuals will enable guests to accomplish more for  our marine environment … together.

It is time to bring together everyone to support and commemorate a very special  place and the place we call home. Salty Soiree offers multiple ways for South  Florida and the Florida Keys to support not only our sanctuary, but the livelihood  of the Florida Keys for the generations that will follow us.

We look forward to having you join us, as we celebrate our spectacular Florida  Keys National Marine Sanctuary, our pristine waters, our home!

2025 Honoree,

Sarah Fangman

The Marine Preservation Society of the Florida Keys is delighted to honor Sarah Fangman, outgoing Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary Superintendent on January 25, 2025, at the Salty Soiree.

Sarah brought to the Keys more than 20 years of experience managing multimillion-dollar budgets, leading large teams and executing innovative marine policies and programs. She excelled at building strategic relationships and working collaboratively across multiple stakeholder groups to address our complex environmental challenges. Sarah’s ability to set a collaborative and professional tone in difficult situations and lead as a visionary problem solver elevated our sanctuary to the level our ocean and community deserved.

Sarah joined NOAA 28 years ago, as assistant to the Deputy Director of the Northwest Fisheries Science Center in Seattle. She joined ONMS in 1998 serving as the Research Coordinator for Channel Islands NMS until 2005, then moved to Savannah, GA to work as a program analyst for the Southeast and Gulf of Mexico Regional office. In 2014, she became the Gray’s Reef NMS Superintendent and then, in 2017, Sarah took on the position of Florida Keys NMS Superintendent.

She has a BA from Middlebury College and a Masters in Marine and Environmental Affairs from the University of Washington.

We extend our deepest appreciation to Sarah, for her tireless and impeccable service to the Florida Keys!
